I was walking around the shop (studio, gallery, disaster zone, call it what you like) taking pictures to post here on our new blog (yes, blog…we are now only 5 years out of date), and it struck me that the thing about Artcraft is: you never know quite what to expect when you walk in the door. As I zoomed in on artwork by Stephen Edgerton and Charlie Burkhead, as I focused my lens on the old Hard Times Cafe sign sitting on my bench, as I snapped my son Amir intently dissecting the latest Star Wars video on You Tube, it suddenly became clear to me that this place is about as eclectic as the people and projects that come and go through our doors.
I don’t really know exactly how this project called Artcraft is going to pan out, but I can tell you that I am so psyched to be the one to try and figure it out, and much more than that: to be the guy who gets to walk around in a daze on any given First Friday, talking with all of the great Artists and Art aficionados, saying hi and trying to remember everyone’s name!
I will try to make this strange place worthy of your visit, so if you will, come on in and say hi. Even if I can’t remember your name, I wont forget You, and we would love to see you walk through the door!
These pictures might give you a hint, at least, of what to expect, and don’t be afraid to buy some art, this place isn’t cheap to heat!
Thanks! – Jim
