Featured Artist:
Charlie Burkhead
Showing February 2010 – ongoing.
Showing 12 acrylic works on canvas, 5 very large narrative watercolors, and many small pieces.
Charles Burkhead, a native of Asheboro, North Carolina,
is known for his clay sculpture, watercolors and abstract
acrylic paintings. His small-scale clay sculpture
represents the human form in a variety of different
relaxed positions, much like a “sketch in clay”, says
Burkhead.
Burkhead began his art career experimenting with pencil
and pen-and-ink line drawings. He has recently ventured
into miniature watercolor paintings, shown in galleries
from the North Carolina coast to the mountains.
Burkhead received an undergraduate degree from
North Carolina State University’s School of Design and
a Master’s Degree from the School of Design at Harvard
University. He currently resides in Raleigh.
“Art is fun,” says Burkhead. “You can forget all your
problems while you’re sculpting and drawing – it’s
great therapy!”
